In a numerical ranking of Florida’s 67 school districts by the Florida Department of Education released Monday morning, Polk County ranks 59th. DOE officials said this is one of the first such rankings in the country. The idea was sparked from conversations between Gov. Rick Scott and Florida Education Commissioner Gerard Robinson. The rankings come after district grades were released in the spring. Polk County received a C grade.
